After School Enrichment Programs

Music Enrichment

Our music enrichment program will resume right away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011.

Jodi Stevens will be available for two full afternoons (Wednesdays and Thursdays) for instruction in bass guitar, guitar, piano, saxophone, clarinet and drums. She is also interested in putting together some small ensembles, such as a contemporary/rock/pop group and a jazz/blues group. Students who play with other students in a band setting experience the opportunity to use what they have learned in their lessons. Jodi is hoping that the groups could meet once a week for an hour and for possibly 1-2 concerts per year. She is also looking into the possibility of having some of these ensembles accompany the TCS chorus,  even if only for a few songs. Depending on enrollment and each student’s level, she will write out parts specifically catered to the player’s comfort level. The fee for a private, half- hour lesson is $25.00. Group rates vary depending on the number of musicians participating. EDP is available for those whose lessons are later in the afternoon and the bridging fee is between school ending and the music lesson is $5 per hour. Regular EDP rate is charged if the lesson is after 5:00PM.

Jodi Stevens started playing the bass guitar at age 15. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1997 with a degree in education and performance. She has taught private and small group lessons on the 4-string, fretless and 6-string bass, as well as saxophone, guitar and piano. As contributing editor at Guitar Video Channel, Stevens writes articles, lessons and interviews concerning bass guitar. She has composed several pieces such as “Song for my Brother” and “Blip Swing Blip”. Her works are available on the Leaping Cat Records compilation CD entitled Jaguar as well as the soundtrack for The Great College radio Hoax and Quest for the Indie Tube. Stevens is an active performer, having worked with The Dale Freeman Band, Walking The Witch, Sisters of Symmetry and The Bobby Gadoury Trio.
